Combining tranquillity and convenience, Anggun Kuala Lumpur is neatly tucked into the street known as Tengkat Tong Shin in Bukit Bintang. An oasis of calm and serenity in the city centre of KL and just 10-minutes walk from Imbi Monorail Station and Bukit Bintang LRT Train Station. This facilitates easy access to all of the city’s major sights, from one of the most fashionable and happening parts of town. The trendy Bukit Bintang area is home to endless variety of shopping malls, world-class restaurants, hawker food stalls, fashion boutiques, Central Business District (CBD) and 10 mins by car to the Embassy row.

Its combination of an internal light-filled courtyard atrium with hanging lanterns, regional Asian handworks and antiques in the lobby combine to create an intimately luxurious, tranquil yet authentic ambience rare to find anywhere else in Kuala Lumpur. Towering roofs, giant bamboo fish traps turned to hanging lamps and lots of tropical plants lend a bright and open feel to the brasserie-style rooftop terrace restaurant KUPU KUPU, which means Butterfly and stands for love in the local Peranakan community belief. There the Head Chef artfully prepares some of the popular Asian and Mediterranean dishes without MSG and the kitchen does not use any microwave ovens in keeping to healthy ways for providing wholesome meals to our guests.

The Anggun philosophy is based on a deep love to preserve or re-use things which had aged...

From this love, comes a desire to give you an experience, unforgettable that you will begin to feel the same way as we do. We surround you with these 'aged' materials which are much cherished combined with eco-friendly and energy efficient modernities for a completely different experience :

Recycled old railway hardwood sleepers for our floors, garden fence and vanity counter stands from which the first tracks were laid in 1881. These sleepers are now over 78 years old and were sourced when our national train company decides to replace all worn out wooden sleepers to more stable concrete sleepers. By doing so, we hope to cultivate a culture of reducing the need to use new woods, reduce tree-cutting and minimise the negative impact to our forest which needs decades to recover or replant.

Indoor floor tiles which are centuries old encaustic tiles or also known as peranakan tiles salvaged from old houses under refurbishment in Malacca, which were over 200 years old. Some of the hotel's roof tiles were also salvaged from our neighbour's house built during the 1920s when they were replacing their old roof to modern roofing due to water leakage over the years.

Then there were the old abandoned kerosene lamps that had been remodified to be used as hanging lamps in the hotel's lobby. Restaurant lamps use the handwork of local villagers that makes giant bamboo fishing  traps and we buy them to make them into hanging lights  for our  roof top terrace restaurant to create and stimulate demand for local village or  "kampong" products as part of our sustainable initiatives and responsibility to cultivate  local tourism economy.

These approaches of keeping a simple nicely done, clean and peaceful garden with potted plants and a well ventilated courtyard helps to preserve the coolness of our building and by using natural sunlight to keep our building bright during the day.

We take advantage of the latest energy efficient technology air-conditioning system and stay away from the old conventional energy zapping cooling system helps to save  over 50% to 80% energy to keep our rooms and building comfortable.
